As the Field Coordinator, Rebecca James Bilai brings over 7 years of experience working in areas of peace and conflict, Gender-Based Violence, Gender integration, Human Rights, women, peace and security.
Rebecca is an experienced development enthusiast and non-governmental organization (NGO) practitioner with over 7 years of work experience and expertise peace and conflict, Gender-Based Violence, Gender integration, Human Rights, women, peace and security. She has over 3 years working experience as EAI Kaduna State Field Coordinator on Department of State’s Securing Nigerian Communities project; providing technical support and field oversight for all EAI projects in insecure LGAs (Kajuru, Chikun and Jema’a) of the state. During her 3 years working with EAI, Rebecca supported the establishment of community-based inclusive safety, security, and EWER platforms for analyzing, preventing and addressing violent conflicts and has facilitated several sessions at trainings and workshops on EWER, conflict analysis, project design, management and many others which further strengthens the capacities of members of the structures. She has also established good collaborations and partnerships with other organizations on some activities within the state like the Kaduna State Peace, Commission, Zamani Foundation etc. Through weekly context monitoring and analysis, she has managed risk of working in the communities. She has demonstrated good leadership skills and support to the youth, women and EWER structures in the state.
Rebecca served as a committee member on the review of the Kaduna State Action Plan on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, & Security and is currently supporting the implementation of the Local Action Plan of the same document drafted by EAI across the SNC LGAs of Kaduna State. She is currently representing EAI as a committee member on the implementation of the State Action Plan in Kaduna State supported by the UN Women, the state government, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Equal Access International, other local and international organizations.
Rebecca is an associate member of the Institute of Chattered Mediation and Conciliation (ICMC), Abuja, Nigeria. She is a Founder/Executive Director with good program management and communication skills. She holds a Master’s in Peace, Conflict, and Strategic Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Literary Studies. She has certificates from various courses taken and capacity-building workshops attended.
